How to Automatically Sync & Import the Merchant Fulfilled Returns to Google Sheets (The Hopted Way)

Using an Amazon to Google Sheets integration like Hopted, you set up the connection once, and your data flows automatically.

Step 1.

Install the Hopted browser extension and sign in using your Google Account.

Step 2.

Securely connect your Amazon Seller Central to Google Sheets using Hopted's integration wizard.

Step 3.

In Google Sheets, from the list of available Amazon Seller Central reports, select "Seller Fulfilled Returns" for a specific date range. This can be as recent as the "Last 24 hours" or a custom range going as far back as 35 months. For this example, we'll select "Include records for the last 30 days".

Step 4.

Select columns that you need: Amazon Order ID, Amazon Order Item ID, A-to-Z Claim, Is prime, Order date, refunded amount, and other fields.

Step 5.

Set your schedule. Choose how often you want to export and refresh your Amazon merchant fulfilled returns—every hour, every day, or less frequent.

Step 6.

Save your data pipeline. This will export your Amazon MFN returns from Seller Central into spreadsheets instead of dealing with CSVs. The orders in your spreadsheets will be up to data forever.

What is the Amazon Merchant Fulfilled Returns Report?

The Returns Report by Return Date for MFN captures customer return requests and outcomes, including RMA IDs, label details (carrier, tracking, cost), return reasons, resolution, Safe-T claim fields, and refunded amounts. Use it to control label spend, reduce A-to-Z risk, and fix listings that trigger returns.

This makes it the single source of truth for answering questions like:

  • What is the status of every active return—is it Pending, Awaiting Package, or Received?

  • Which new return requests do I need to authorize right now?

  • Which packages have arrived and are now waiting for my inspection and refund?

  • What did the customer state as the Return Reason for this specific Order ID?

  • Which returns are at risk of missing Amazon's strict 2-day refund window?

The Difference: FBA vs. MFN Returns Data

This is the most critical distinction.

  • FBA Returns Report: This is a historical report for analysis. Amazon does all the work, and the report tells you what happened (e.g., reasondisposition).

  • MFN Seller Fulfilled Returns: This is a live workflow. It's a "to-do list" of active returns that you must process. You need to track the status of each return in real-time.

How to Analyze & Track Your MFN Returns in Spreadsheets

Now that you have a live feed, you can move from data entry to data analysis. This is the real power of analyzing your Amazon Seller Central data in spreadsheets.

Here are 3 "recipes" you can build immediately:

Recipe 1: The Live MFN Workflow Dashboard

This replaces the clunky Seller Central tabs. In your sheet, create 3 new tabs.

  • In Tab 1, "Needs Authorization": Use a Filter condition to pull all returns that need your attention.Return Status = 'Pending Authorization'")

  • In Tab 2, "Waiting for Item": Return Status = 'Authorized'")

  • In Tab 3, "Inspect & Refund": Return Status = 'Awaiting Package'") (Note: You'll need to update this status manually or via tracking, but now you have a single list!)

Recipe 2: Share With Your Team

You can now share your Google Sheet with your team.

  • Give your warehouse team access to the "Waiting for Item" tab. When a package arrives, they can find the RMA on the list and check it off.

  • Give your customer service team access to see the status of any return instantly.

Recipe 3: Analyze Why You Get MFN Returns

This is the analysis part. Now that you have a growing database of all your returns, you can finally spot trends.

  1. Create a Pivot Table from your "Hopted - MFN Returns" data tab.

  2. Rows: Add SKU and Product Name.

  3. Columns: Add Return Reason.

  4. Values: Add Order ID (summarized by COUNTA).

Result: You'll instantly see which products are being returned most often for "Item Defective" or "Not as Described," allowing you to fix your MFN listings or packaging.

Common workflows this report unlocks

  • A-to-Z risk reduction: monitor return request status + reasons to pre-empt claims.

  • Label-cost control: pivot cost by carrier/paid-by/Prime to cut overspend and enforce prepaid-label rules.

  • Safe-T claim ops: create queues by state and track reimbursement amounts to closure.

  • Listing/content fixes: mine Return Reason + customer outcomes to fix images, bullets, size charts.

  • SFP compliance: filter Is prime MFN-Prime returns and watch in-policy adherence.

  • Refund governance: reconcile Refunded Amount vs claim reimbursements to recover $$ leakage.

Track Data (what to watch weekly)

  • Return reason mix by ASIN/SKU → target listing/content fixes.

  • Label spend & payer (Label costLabel to be paid by) → reduce avoidable costs.

  • Safe-T lifecycle (id/state/reimbursement) → ensure claims are filed and reimbursed.

  • In-policy vs out-of-policy → tighten returns policy & SFP compliance.

  • Refunded vs reimbursed → audit leakage (refunds with no Safe-T reimbursement).

FAQ about MFN Returns

Q: Does it include label/track info and Safe-T fields?
Yes—Label type/cost/carrier/trackingA-to-Z, and Safe-T claim fields (id, state, reimbursement).

Q: How often should I sync?
Daily suits most MFN ops; increase frequency during peaks or when managing many Safe-T cases. (You can schedule reports.)

Q: Can I analyze this in Google Sheets and Excel without coding?
Yes—Hopted writes normalized rows to your sheet and keeps them fresh with scheduled upserts.

Q: Does this automatically issue refunds for me? No. Hopted is an Amazon to Google Sheets integration that pullsyour data. It creates the perfect, always-updated "to-do" list. You still need to go into Seller Central to click the "Issue Refund" button, but now you'll have a clean, manageable list of exactly what needs refunding.

Q: Where is this "report" in Seller Central? It's not a downloadable file. It's the live data on the Orders > Manage Returns page. Hopted is unique in its ability to connect to and sync this live workflow data, not just static, historical reports.

Q: How is Hopted different from other Amazon seller software?
Most Amazon tools force you into their rigid dashboards and pre-built reports. You have to change your workflow to fit their software. With Hopted is the opposite. It’s a flexible data automation layer that works directly inside your existing spreadsheets (like Google Sheets). Instead of forcing you to learn a new system, Hopted brings all your scattered Amazon data (sales, inventory, MFN returns, etc.) right to you. You can build the fully custom reports and automations you need, not the ones a rigid tool dictates.
