FAQ: Multiple Amazon Seller Accounts

Multiple Amazon seller accounts: is it a thing? You sell products for different brands, and now you are wondering whether to use your existing account or open another one. The useful starting question is why the second business needs its own account.
This FAQ uses Amazon’s current US Seller Central guidance, reviewed on October 16, 2026. Account rules refer to regions, not simply to each country’s store. Check the guidance for your own region before acting.

Can I Have Multiple Amazon Seller Accounts?
Yes, when you have a legitimate business need and all your accounts are in good standing. Amazon’s Seller Code of Conduct starts from one Seller Central account per region. Its examples of a legitimate justification are:
Separate businesses for multiple brands you own.
Manufacturing products for two distinct companies.
Participation in an Amazon program that requires separate selling accounts.
A second brand name alone does not establish that you maintain a separate business. Write down the actual reason for the additional account before starting registration.
The current code does not state a universal prior-approval requirement. If your situation is unclear, ask Selling Partner Support about the specific facts and keep the response. A support case is useful context, not a guarantee against later enforcement.
How to Open Multiple Amazon Seller Accounts?
Start with the business need, then follow Amazon’s current seller registration guide. Provide the business, primary contact, payment and identity information requested, accurately and consistently with your documents.
Do not treat an old checklist of different domains, warehouses, employees, addresses and EINs as a universal Amazon requirement. Those are not the eligibility conditions listed in the current multiple-account policy. Follow the banking, email and verification requirements Amazon presents for your registration; do not invent details to make related businesses look unrelated.
Also check whether you are expanding to another region or opening a second business account in the same region. Amazon’s US registration guide says an account created through sell.amazon.com can serve the US, Canada, Mexico and Brazil, with additional accounts available for other regions. An international expansion and a second same-region business account are different decisions.
How to Manage Multiple Amazon Seller Accounts?
Two accounts mean more things to keep track of, although the workload will not necessarily double. Plan who owns each account’s orders, listings, stock, customer service and policy notices. Its easy to miss a task when everyone assumes the other person has it.
Keep a clear account and marketplace label in your working reports. Review each account separately before combining totals, and record who should act on an issue. A shared reporting view is useful for coordination; it should never make the underlying business records ambiguous.
Make Account Health a regular check for every account. Amazon’s account-health guidance for multiple accounts warns that policy issues in one account may affect all related accounts. A separate account is not protection from that connection.
Can I Close My Amazon Seller Account and Open a New One?
You can request permanent closure, but closing an account is not a way to escape an unresolved suspension. Amazon’s US account-closure instructions say to:
Fulfill outstanding orders and wait 90 days after your last sale.
Reach a zero balance and resolve buyer transactions, refunds and open A-to-z Guarantee claims.
Keep bank information current for the final payment.
Resolve the reasons for any suspension and restore the account.
If you have FBA inventory, request its return or disposal before closure.
Once closed, the account cannot be reinstated. You lose access to order history and the ability to handle returns, refunds, buyer communications and claims through it. Selling again requires a new registration; do not assume a past closure guarantees acceptance.
Check the scope before requesting closure. Closing a US account within a North America Unified Account also closes its eligible Canada, Mexico and Brazil accounts. Amazon Europe Stores Accounts close across the European stores. Other regional accounts require their own closure request. Amazon’s closure reminder explains the regional distinction.
How Many Amazon Seller Accounts Can You Have?
Amazon’s published policy does not offer a blanket allowance of two, three or unlimited accounts. It sets a default of one account per region, with additional accounts dependent on a legitimate business need and good standing across all accounts.
Assess each proposed account on that basis. Do not turn a list of brands into a target number of accounts, or assume that because a second account was appropriate a third automatically will be.
Can You Have Two Amazon Sellers with the Same Address?
A shared address alone does not answer the eligibility question. The current multiple-account section sets the business-need and good-standing conditions; it does not give a blanket approval or prohibition based only on an address.
Use the true address requested for the business and its contact person. Amazon’s registration guide distinguishes business information from personal contact information. If two businesses share premises, explain that real arrangement when Amazon asks for verification. Do not substitute a false address to create the appearance of separation.
Can I Operate Two Amazon Seller Accounts from a Single PC?
The multiple-account policy does not list separate computers as an eligibility condition. It also does not promise that separate computers will protect related accounts from enforcement.
Choose your working setup for secure, accurate account management. Check the account you are in before changing a listing or handling an order. Buying another computer does not establish a legitimate business need or repair an account-health problem.
What Are the Benefits of Having Two Seller Accounts?
Where the businesses are genuinely separate, separate accounts may make responsibilities and reporting easier to organize. For example, each team can work from a clearly identified business rather than sorting every task out afterwards. Treat that as an operational choice, with extra adminstration attached.
Do not open an account to reset an inventory score, work around restrictions or keep selling after another related account is deactivated. The published rule requires every account to remain in good standing. Nor should you assume that a separate account guarantees an easy future business sale.
Will Amazon Know if I Don’t Have a Legitimate Business Need and Open a Second Account?
Do not base the decision on whether you think Amazon will identify the connection. The policy applies regardless. Guessing which signals Amazon uses to connect accounts does not establish your eligibility.
Keep accurate ownership, contact and business records. If you cannot explain the legitimate need for another account, stop before opening it. The consequences can extend beyond the new account to your other selling accounts.
What if My Account Gets Suspended but I Have a Legitimate Business Reason for Two?
Read the performance notification and identify the account and issue Amazon names. Having a legitimate need for two accounts does not remove the requirement for both to be in good standing.
Amazon’s secondary-account appeal guidance explains the process when another account you own or operate caused the deactivation: restore that account, then request review of the affected related account. Follow the current instructions in Account Health to submit the requested explanation and evidence. If you believe the association is wrong, address that specific association rather than sending a generic appeal.
Keep documents and case references together so your explanation is consistent. Follow the case through without assuming that reinstatement is guaranteed.
What Do I Do Now?
Before opening another account, write a short decision note: the region, legitimate business need, existing account status and person responsible for each business. Keep supporting records with it. That little bit of preparation is less exciting than a new storefront, but it gives the decision a proper starting point.
Once the accounts are operating, build a routine for checking stock, listing tasks and account health. For a practical reporting workflow, see Hopted’s account-health monitoring guide and Amazon-to-Google Sheets tutorial. Reporting can support the review; the account owner still needs to read Amazon’s notices and act on them.
