FAQ: Amazon Seller Alerts and Other Account Notifications

Amazon seller alerts and notifications

The devil is in the details. An important notice is not much use if it lands in an inbox nobody checks. For an Amazon seller, setting up notifications and deciding who acts on them belong together.

These six questions cover where to look, which settings to review, and what to do when an email goes missing. The operational links and settings examples use US Seller Central; check the options available in each store where you sell.

What are Amazon Performance Notifications?

Performance Notifications is where you review Amazon’s messages about important account and listing issues. Examples include policy warnings, listing deactivations, and account suspensions. Amazon’s account-health guidance also explains the accompanying email notifications.

Read the full message and its instructions. A notification may ask for a correction, supporting documents, or an appeal. Keep the notice and the action you took together, rather than assuming that opening the email resolves the issue.

How do I check my Amazon seller performance?

Open Account Health in Seller Central. Amazon’s Seller Central guide describes this page as a place to review account alerts and monitor customer service, shipping performance, and policy compliance.

Review the performance sections alongside the rating. The Account Health Rating concerns the risk of deactivation from certain policy violations; it does not replace the other performance information on the page. Review the requirements and issues shown for your account and store.

A healthy rating is not a guarantee against deactivation. Amazon can act on serious activity or policies outside that rating. Deal with the specific issue promptly, even when the overall status looks reassuring.

How do I get notifications for my Amazon seller account?

Open Notification preferences while signed in to Seller Central. Review the categories available to your account, then use the relevant Edit control to check the destination and selected notifications.

For example, the current US page includes orders, returns and claims, listings, reports, messaging, and pricing or offer notifications. The available choices depend on your account and selling plan. Review the choices shown for your account before setting up delivery.

You can direct different notification types to different email addresses. The Merchant Default Contact supplies the default details where a category uses them; an alternative address may be set for a particular category. Keep the emergency contact details current as well. For a shared team, decide who owns each type of message and who covers absences.

Why am I not getting my Amazon notifications?

Start with the specific notification you expected, not just the account’s sign-in email:

  1. Check that the relevant notification is enabled in Notification preferences.

  2. Check the destination shown for that category, including whether it inherits the Merchant Default Contact.

  3. Check the receiving mailbox’s spam folder and filters.

  4. If the problem continues, contact Seller Support with the notification type and examples of when you expected it.

These checks follow Amazon’s guidance on missing FBA order emails. That discussion concerns order notifications; it does not establish that every missing email has the same cause. Check the underlying order, case, or account page while delivery is being investigated.

Review each relevant category instead of stopping at the first correct email address. A small admin job, often the one left until later.

How often should I check my seller account?

Our practical recommendation is to check Performance Notifications and Account Health at least twice each working day, with cover for weekends and absences. This is a suggested operating routine, not an Amazon response deadline. Follow the deadline and instructions in each notice, and review urgent messages when they arrive.

If you sell in several stores, check each one. Amazon’s account-health guidance recommends regular checks for each selling site. Give the person reviewing a notice a clear next step: investigate, correct the issue, or pass it to the responsible teammate. A check with no owner is easy to forget.

Can alerts warn me about suspension or Buy Box loss?

Alerts can draw your attention to a change. Treat claims about coverage, delivery speed, and supported channels as features to verify with the particular provider. Do not assume a tool detects every policy issue or will warn you before Amazon takes action.

Keep the investigation separate from the alert. A new seller on an ASIN is not, by itself, proof of a counterfeit. A change in the Featured Offer, often called the Buy Box, is not proof of a policy violation either. Use our guides to investigating listing hijacking and understanding the Featured Offer to decide what needs attention.

Choose extra monitoring around a concrete gap in your process. Record what it checks, who receives the result, and what that person should do next. Then keep checking Seller Central itself, there is still work to do after the notification arrives.
